The Louis Armstrong Foundation, Inc. - Educational Outreach Program, offers a “Jazz the First DaysIn School Field Trip (ISFT) for students K-12.

The Louis Armstrong Foundation, Inc. Jazz the First DaysIn School Field Trip (ISFT) will rekindle the music played around the turn of the century in a jazz education workshop designed specifically with your student population in mind.

Celebrating its 125th year as an indigenous cultural musical art form born in New Orleans, Jazz has served a variety of purposes in varied conditions throughout the course of its evolution.

The Louis Armstrong Foundation, Inc. "Jazz the First Days" - In School Field Trip celebrates the pioneers of the jazz cultural art form in a unique culturally enriched experience designed to increase your students historical knowledge of Black Creole contributions around the turn of the 20th century. Students will also learn about the social and economical influences of America’s first contribution to world culture, Jazz.

Students will gain an appreciation of what life was like for the musicians, dancers, and artist in New Orleans, La. during the early 1900’s.

The Louis Armstrong Foundation, Inc. “Jazz the First Days” (ISFT) offers both students and teachers the perfect opportunity to explore an often overlooked but vital part of American History, as well as the environment that contributed to the development of New Orleans contribution to world culture, Jazz.

The Louis Armstrong Foundation, Inc. can present our jazz education workshops to your entire school population for a nominal donation per student.
